The Melting Pot 1975 – ChatGPT Recreation & from r/TopSecretRecipes

  • 1.5oz Hendrick’s Gin
  • 0.75oz lemon juice
  • 0.5oz cupcake / vanilla syrup
  • 2oz La Marca Prosecco (or other dry Prosecco)
  • Blue Cotton Candy garnish
  • ¼ oz blue curaçao (if blue cotton candy is not used) — Torani carries this, but is probably Blue Lake 2. Use a natural spirulina-based curacao if possible.
  • Edible gold/luster
  1. Shake together gin, lemon and syrup
  2. Strain into chilled coupe or martini glass
  3. Top with prosecco
  4. Add very small pinch of gold dust
  5. Serve with cotton candy over or on a skewer alongside, and dissolve in
  6. Should be lightly sweet; reduce syrup to 0.25oz if too sweet or blue curaçao is used.
  7. Taste: floral gin, bright lemon, vanilla frosting, dry bubbles

Actually… ‘top with prosecco’ makes no sense, HOWEVER….from my memory:

  1. Shake gin, lemon, & syrup & strain into glass.
  2. Skewer blue cotton candy and sprinkle with gold dust, dangling over glass.
  3. Pour over prosecco ONTO the cotton candy and into the drink.
  4. Watch the whole mess dissolve into a swirling vortex of gold-in-blue until it settles and looks like underwater sand.

I ALSO REMEMBER A SWIZZLE STICK for some reason.

Straight Recommendations

Blarney Irish Cream – CHEAP but Derek likes it even better than Bailey’s

Coole Swan – good irish Cream that Kim Krise likes.

Andrew Koerselman recommends Admiral Rodney Barbados brand, and HMS Barbados rum

Andrew also recommends 25yo Macallen Whiskey – $2k per bottle.

ALSO – he drinks Jim Beam straight. Smooth and little burn.

I LOVED Limavady whiskey, but nobody carries it.. I wanted to try Green Spot (the cheaper version of Yellow Spot), but not terribly interesting (though according to online reviews it’s VERY GOOD, VERY BALANCED). We ended up buying Andy Rudy a 15-year bottle of Lismore Scotch for his 35th birthday in 2026 (Helen gets good vibes from it). Not cheap (about $60), but it feels good and has a nice presentation.

Also, as far as vodka goes, Andrew K. confirms that corn or wheat vodka is crap (Smirnoff, Absolut, Grey Goose, Tito’s). Stick with potato!!! Luksusowa and Monopolowa are excellent potato vodkas. There’s also an Irish potato vodka we might try – the internet recommends Ballykeefe and Muff.

Ellis likes Smithwick’s Red Ale.

For my bachelor party, the boys got me Bumbu Spiced Rum. It was fantastic. They also make a CREAM rum?? We saw it came in a fun tin…
